Family and friends will gather from 3:00 -6:00 PM, Sunday March 6, 2016 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

Eugene Wooten, 86, of Peru, passed away peacefully with his wife Phyllis at his bedside Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 3:19 PM at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. Eugene was born September 18, 1929 to Jack and Mary Wooten. Eugene graduated from Peru High School in 1948 and he married Phyllis Joan Burns in Chili on December 23, 1951. He retired from NIPSCO in 1990 after 26 ½ years of service. He was a local fence builder with his sons for many years and was a member of the Moose and the Nature Conservancy. Eugene enjoyed vacationing with his family in the Grand Tetons. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Gene and Phyllis had three sons and one daughter; Jeffrey Wooten and his wife Lisa, Peru, IN, Steven Wooten and his wife Tamara , Fishers, IN Troy Wooten and his wife Linda , Ft. Wayne, IN and one beautiful daughter Beth who passed away on December 19, 1988. Two special grandsons who made him very proud, Ian Wooten and his friend Stacy Hill and Cody Wooten and his wife Leslie. Three step-grandsons Colin Gallagher and his wife Emily, Brad Gallagher and Brennon Gallagher. One step- great grandson William Gallagher. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Beth and a half-sister Thelma. A service celebrating the life of Eugene Wooten will be on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10:30 AM, at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN with Pastor Charles Cole officiating. Burial will be at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport, IN. Family and friends will gather from 3:00 -6:00 PM, Sunday March 6, 2016 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to the Grand Teton National Park.
