Edward “Ed” Shepherd, 78, of Urbana, Indiana, died at 10:36 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash. He was born September 8, 1938 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Henry and Roxie (Slone) Shepherd.

Ed married Elsie Thompson in Prestonsburg, on June 10, 1957. He retired from Kroger Egg, in Wabash, after 25 years, worked at the Indiana State Highway Department and did construction work. He was a member of Sportsman and Conservation Club in Silver Lake, and the National Rifle Association. Ed enjoyed woodworking, working on garden tractors, yard work, raising hunting dogs, watching westerns on television, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Shepherd of Urbana, three children, Dwane Shepherd of Lagro, Indiana, Delinda (James “Rocky”) Pinson of Aurora, Colorado, and DeVon (Debby) Shepherd of Lagro, daughter-in-law, Debbie Hall of Wabash, four grandchildren, Natasha (Scott) Niccum of North Manchester, Indiana, Taylor Pinson of Aurora, Douglas (Amber) Shepherd of Zionsville, Indiana, Delaney Shepherd of Lagro, and one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Niccum of North Manchester. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, Pastor Tim Prater officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-8 p.m.Monday, at the funeral home.
