Dorothy Irene Purvis, 74, Marion, died at 6:53 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born in Knott County, KY, to the late Fielden and Dora (Smith) Ritchie. She married Floyd Purvis on May 31, 1965, and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1995.
Dorothy was a homemaker and previously worked for General Tire. She loved to spoil her children and grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed going to rummage sales, playing horse shoes and Rook, crocheting, and sitting on her front porch swing. She also enjoyed watching the Indiana Pacers and was a Kentucky Wildcats fan.
Survivors include her children, Lois King, Marion, Joyce (Mark) McKee, Marion, and Tonya (Chris) Baker, Marion; grandchildren, Floyd (Alexis Roe) Tedder, Marion, and Samuel Baker, Marion; great-granddaughter, Lakelynn Tedder; and sister, Martha Purvis, Bath Co., KY.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; father, Fielden Ritchie; mother, Dora (Smith) Ritchie Armstrong; and sister, Marie Melch.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
