Doris J. Lake, 93, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 8:30 am, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born July 22, 1923 in Wabash, to Oscar and Marie (Dillman) Nayrocker.
Doris married William Leslie Lake Jr. in Wabash on July 28, 1940; he died February 16, 2001. She retired, after 39 years, from General Tire in Wabash. She was a member of Wabash Friends Church and a former member of the Wabash Eagles Lodge. She loved making Christmas candy, and was especially known for her fudge making. Doris also enjoyed jewelry making, crafts, playing euchre at the Winchester Senior Center, and going to the Shipshewana flea market.
She is survived by two sons, Les C. (Donna) Lake of Norman, Oklahoma, and Lynn E. (Tammi) Lake of Wabash; daughter-in-law, Ginny Lake of Wabash; 6 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Steven Michael Lake, three grandchildren, Donnie Lake, Lisa Creasey, and Les Lake, great grandson Jon Lake, one brother and three sisters.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Chapel of Remembrance Mausoleum at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, 1100 Manchester Ave. Wabash. Burial will follow in Memorial Lawns Cemetery. Friends may call 4-7 pm Tuesday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash.
Preferred memorial is Dallas Winchester Senior Center.
