Donald Wilfred Carson, 84 of Peru died peacefully at his home at 6:00 PM, Friday, August 12, 2016. He was born on the Carson farmstead near Denver, Indiana on October 6, 1936, the son of James Andrew and Marie (Stowman) Carson. Don married Peggy Jo Bruce on November 15, 1958, and she preceded him in death on February 5, 2001. A lifelong resident of Miami County, Donald attended Denver Elementary School and Jefferson Township High School. He served in the Army 1954-1956 driving an armored personnel carrier while stationed in post-war Germany. He farmed with his family, worked for Square-D as a foreman and for Stokely-VanCamp canning factory before establishing his own electrical business. He was awarded best Electrician in Miami County. Don was a life member of the Peru Maennerchor and a US Army Veteran. Donald is said to be a relative of Christopher (Kit) Carson, pioneer frontiersman. Survivors include a son Bruce Carson and his wife Brenda of Peru, grandsons Jesse Carson of Kokomo and Jody Carson of Chicago, IL, a great grand-daughter Bailey, his beloved Terri Grossi and a niece Janet L. (Musselman) Hunter, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peggy and a sister Nina L. Musselman. A service celebrating the life of Donald W. Carson will held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday August 17, 2016 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 W. Main Street, Peru, IN with Chaplin Virgil Barker officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, IN with Military Honors provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Family and friends will gather from 9:00-11:00 AM on Wednesday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made through the funeral home to Miami County Helping Hands.
