Charlotte D. Waggonner, 92, of Fort Wayne, IN, and previously of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 2:05 a.m. at Englewood Health and Rehabilitation, Fort Wayne, IN.

Mrs. Waggonner was born on March 1, 1925, in Huntington, IN to John and Pansy (Best) Waikel. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs Waggonner married Samuel P. Waggonner in Arkansas on April 14, 1992. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2010.

Charlotte was a 1943 graduate of Huntington High School. She served in the United States Army as a surgical technician during World War II. Mrs. Waggonner was employed at Memcor Inc. for 22 years as a Supervisor/Group Leader. She was a member of Salamonie Church of the Brethren, Warren, IN, and the American Legion, Waynedale, IN.

Charlotte is survived by four daughters, Cheryl Holmes, Joyce (Craig Vespe) Hartley, Beverly (Tom) Kneller, all of Fort Wayne, IN, Julie (Karl) Schulz, Roanoke, IN; one sister: Patricia (Larry) Adams, Fort Wayne, IN; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Randolph, Nicole Arivett, Ian Kneller and Mackenzie Kneller; 7 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Charlotte is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Hubartt; infant daughter; and three brothers, James Waikel, Jack Waikel, and Jerry Waikel.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, with Rev. Dianne Teusch officiating.

Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Marion, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Salvation Army in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
