Carolyn J. Yoder, 87, of Huntington passed away at 7:20 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Markle Health and Rehabilitation Center. Carolyn was a 1946 graduate of Huntington High School. After graduating, she worked at Sealtest in Huntington for several years. She was a life member of Central Christian Church where she was baptized on April 9, 1941 and was a member and officer of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, Carolyn worked as the financial secretary at the church for 19 years as well as serving as a deaconess, nursery school secretary, and co-coordinator of Teas and Receptions. She devoted many hours serving her church. Carolyn was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Huntington Chapter. Her greatest joy was her family. Carolyn loved cooking and attending all the activities of her grandchildren.
She was born on March 7, 1929, in Huntington, the daughter of Gerald Everett and Mildred Isabelle (Beaver) Diffendorfer.
She was united in marriage to L. Richard Yoder on November 26, 1950 in Huntington. He preceded her in death on March 9, 2001.
Survivors include three daughters: Ann (Greg) Funk of Warsaw; Emilie (Mark) Wolf of Huntington; Susan (David) Hunnicutt of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren: Brian (Megan) Funk, Kevin (Erin) Funk, Andrew (Nicole) Wolf, Allison Wolf, Aaron (Kayla) Wolf, Jarrod (Kendra) Hunnicutt, Jeffrey Hunnicutt and Jordan Hunnicutt. Carolyn was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandson.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Colleen Haines.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Central Christian Church, 500 MacGahan Street, Huntington with Pastor Chris Hayden officiating.
Interment will be at the Union Cemetery.
