Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Anita C. Bucher, 89, of Peru, passed away at 4:20 A.M., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Peru on February 10, 1927 the daughter Darwin and Flossie Showkwyler Darby. Anita married Donald R. Bucher on October 28, 1944 and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2012. Anita was a graduate of the Lafayette High School and a member of the Loree Brethren Church. She was employed by the Good Year Service Stores in Peru and Kokomo retiring in 1975. Anita was an avid knitter, creating scarves, afghans, and baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life were her husband, Don, and her family. She was a staunch supporter of her children and grandchildren and it was in her role as family matriarch that most will remember her. Surviving is a son, Fred Bucher of Peru, grandchildren Angela Hays, Abra Masuth, Allison Roop, Melissa Bucher, Heather Fowler, Todd Bucher, Sherry Jackson, Patricia Wright and Reba Jackson and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don, a daughter-in-law Nadine Bucher, a son Joe Bucher two brothers and two sisters. A service celebrating the life of Anita C. Bucher will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street with Pastor Bill Bussard officiating. Burial will be in the Rankin Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made through the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home to the Loree Brethren Church.
