Alice E. Wade, 86, formerly of Jonesboro, Indiana died Monday, November 21, 2016 at Wesleyan Health Care Center where she had resided for the past several years. Thank you to Wesleyan Health Care for their loving care.

Alice was born in Fairmount, Indiana on January 27, 1930, daughter of the late Glen A. Harrold and Blanche Jones Harrold. She was a 1948 graduate of Fairmount High School and a graduate of Ft. Wayne Beauty School. She married John Day Wade on November 2, 1952. John preceded her in death on May 20, 1999. Alice worked as a beautician at Ethel’s Beauty Shop and Home Corner Beauty & Barber Shop. She worked at Dana retiring in 1990. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro where she taught  Kindergarten Sunday School Class. She was also a former Eastern Star member, Girl Scout Leader and a Pink Lady Volunteer at Marion General Hospital. She was an 18 year cancer survivor and volunteer driver for Cancer Services of Grant County.  Alice had a quick wit, always the prankster and took great interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She loved children and was always ready to engage in a game of pretend. The Chicago Cubs and Indiana Pacers were near and dear to her heart. Alice loved to play cards, enjoyed painting and wallpapering and was a great cook.

Alice will be deeply missed by her four children; Gary (Sandra) Wade and Julie (Troy) Riddle both of Jonesboro, Janice Querry of Gas City and John Charles (Amy) Wade of South Bend, Indiana. 8 Grandchildren; Jennifer  (David) Fox, Carolyn (Matthew) Henderson ,Jeffrey (Maria) Wade, and Preston Wade, Allison and Spenser Querry, Keaton and Kameron Riddle and Joshua (Gayle) O’Konski, and11 great grandchildren, in-laws; Mike Meyer, Phyllis Harrold Kelly, Jean Harrold, Bonnie Harrold and Joanne Wade.

Alice was preceded in death by siblings; Ruth (John) Painter and Martha J. Meyer, Hubert, Herbert, Wayne and Kenneth Harrold.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where the family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 4-8 PM.  Funeral Service celebrating Alice’s life will be on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 601 S. Main Street, Jonesboro, Indiana with Rev. Laurie Wolcott, Pastor Ron Meyer and Pastor Brock Meyer officiating.  Interment will be at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Grant County or Heart to Heart Hospice in care of the funeral home.
