Addie Belle Ness, 82, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN.

Mrs. Ness was born on June 5, 1934, in La Porte, IN, to Edward and Lillie (Lung) Horsley.  Her parents preceded her in death.  Addie married John Ness on May 31, 1953, in Huntington.  He preceded her in death on November 16, 2001.

Addie graduated from Huntington High School in 1953. She retired from Imco in Huntington after working in Quality Control for 26 years.  She also worked at JC Penney many years ago and also at Nick’s Kitchen where she met her husband, John, in 1952.

Addie’s family was by far the most important thing in her life.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She did not know a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand or money to someone in need.  She had a heart of gold, so much so she made sure everyone was taken care of before herself.  Addie was one to make sure no one went home hungry, and she loved to cook homemade meals and have family over for dinner and holidays.  She had the ability to make you feel important and special.  She was a hard worker and passed on her work ethic to her children.  She loved facebook on the computer and many loving and encouraging replies were sent by her to many people.  Addie was blessed to live in the same home for over 63 years and for the last 6 years her daughter, Beckie, was her primary caretaker.  She enjoyed her companion poodle “Chico” who survives.  She had a face that could light up a room and truly loved everyone she met.  She was the family problem solver and a great shoulder to cry on.  She embraced life with a boundless love of family and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Parkview Regional Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care for the Care and support in her final days.

Addie was also a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington, and she also attended Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke, IN.  She was a member of the Parish Council, Daughters of Isabella, Widows of Prayer, the Red Hat Society, Grandmothers Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and also a member of Gollner Guild.  She volunteered for funeral dinners with the church, and at the Forks of the Wabash.

Addie is survived by one son, Robert Ness. Fort Wayne, IN; three daughters, Victoria (Paul) Thompson, Debbie (James) Smith, Beckie (David) Casiano, all of Huntington, IN.  She is also survived by one sister, Joan Hook, Fort Wayne, IN, six grandchildren, Tamarah Gordon, Sage Thompson, Preslie (Matthew) Hirschy, Johnathon Casiano, Madison Ness and Kayden Smith; 16 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
