Willis W. Fisher

Willis W. Fisher, 97, Marion, passed away at 5:00 am on Friday, September 2, 2022. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, February 2, 1925, to John and Ethel (Wagner) Fisher.  He was married to Phyllis A. (Hoyt) Fisher, who preceded him in death.   

Willis graduated from Marion High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged at the Great Lakes (IL) Separation Center on May 24, 1946.  He retired from Turbocombuster Technology, Inc. (FL) as an airplane manufacturer.  He also worked at Alloyed and Hoosier Metal.  He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Elks Country Club, and American Legion.

Willis liked to golf, play cards, and watch all sports.  He was a faithful supporter of Marion Giants sports.  Willis also loved dogs.  

Survivors include his son, Rodney W. (Linda) Fisher of Gary; granddaughters, Jennifer and Sandra; five great-grandchildren; nephews Greg, Jeff and Neil Fisher; and special friends, Tracy and Bill Lester, Matt Dubuque, Liz and Troy Shockey, and Mike Mangenello.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Waymond and Clark Fisher; and good friend, Lois Hinkle.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Willis’ life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Paul Bowen officiating.  Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
