Waneta “Sue” Lucille Funk

Waneta “Sue” Lucille Funk, 101, Marion, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Greer, Illinois, on August 8, 1920, to Clarence and Bessie (Shamp) Phillips.  

Sue graduated from Rossville High School in Illinois and married Otto W. Funk in 1948. She was a dental assistant while in Illinois and worked at several restaurants when she lived in Indiana. She was a great cook! She retired from the work force at the age of 80. Sue was a very active member at her church at Swayzee United Methodist. She was also a member of the Swayzee UMC Women’s Society. Her church meant everything to her. 

Survivors include her son, William “Bill” (Maureen) Funk of Kokomo, and her grandchildren, Devin Funk of Seattle, WA, and Andrea Funk of Kokomo. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. 

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Swayzee United Methodist Church, 306 S. Washington St., Swayzee, IN. 

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Sue’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jenni Debaun officiating. Burial will take place at Thrailkill Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be directed to Swayzee United Methodist Church, 306 S. Washington St., Swayzee, IN 46986.
