Wanda King

Wanda King, 84, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, after a brief illness. She was born in Barthell, Kentucky, to Victor and Mary (Strunk) Bradley. She married Larry P. King on July 1, 1961, who preceded her in death.  

Also preceding her in death are brother, Buck Bradley; sisters, Jean Laflower, Wilma Bennett, and Alma Clemens; and step-son Max P. King. 

She is survived by daughters, Debbi (Mrs. Ted) Shook and Sherry R. King; two grandsons, Keith (Christy) Shook and Ian (Krystal Owens) Shook; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Eliana, and Kinsley Shook. 

Wanda worked at Haisley’s Corner in Marion for 20 years and at the Plaza Bowl in Marion for 10 years. She attended Eastgate Community Church and loved to study the Bible. Wanda loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she enjoyed shopping with her best friend, Jackie Kellogg. 

The family will receive visitors from 12 noon – 2 pm on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. 

Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held at 2 pm with Rev. Nate Wayman officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to Eastgate Community Church, 825 S. Pennsylvania St., Marion, IN 46953.
