Wabash Man Facing Child Molestation Charges

WABASH,Indiana – A 51-year-old Wabash man is in big trouble after police say he exposed himself to a 5-year-old girl he was watching and asked her to engage in inappropriate contact. Stoney A. Hobson is facing one count of attempted child molesting as a level 1 felony and one count of attempted vicarious sexual gratification as a level 4 felony.
According to an affidavit of probable cause by Detective Captain James Kirk, the incident first came to light when the girl and her mother went to First Light Child Advocacy Center in Marion to talk to workers there about Hobson’s conduct. The girl said that she did not want Hobson to expose himself anymore.

On April 19, police interviewed Hobson who denied the allegations and agreed to a polygraph test. Kirk’s affidavit states that Hobson failed the test and then admitted to the five year old seeing him when was exposed. Hobson was booked into the Wabash County Jail on May 2nd and, at his initial hearing where he entered a plea of not guilty, the court ordered him not to have any contact with the mother and her child. Bond has been set at $50,000.
