Those numbers represent 8 more inductees into the National Honor Society and 14 more Academic Letter recipients compared to last year.

The National Honor Society inductees are broken down into third, second and first-year members and the parents and loved ones who packed Legacy Hall took video on the phones as their kids read the NHS pledge to maintain a high scholastic standing, endeavor to be a leader and give themselves to the service of others. The National Honor Society not only stresses academic achievement but giving back to the community through volunteer work, as well.

Third-year WHS NHS inductees

Because of the Early College High School program that came to fruition this year, 12 freshman received their Academic Letter which requires them meet stringent standard in academics. The problem is that the school system only hands out awards for first, second and third-year recipients. By the time some of these freshmen are seniors, they’ll need a fourth-year pin in regard to their Academic Letter which currently doesn’t exist. Wabash High School Principal Kyle Wieland calls that a good problem to have.

Because of the longer list of inductees this year, Wabash City Schools Superintendent Jason Callahan cut his remarks to the audience down a bit but talked to MiBash News about the best and the brightest students involved in the ceremony on Sunday.

Third-Year Inductees: Madison Barden, Kristin Cromer, Shannon Davis, Madison Decker, Ben Dillon, Adam Driscoll, Skyler Hall, Carli Henderson, Kalana Heuston, Sarina Jamerson, Katie McCauley, Sydni Mullet, Sam O’Connel, Darian Reynolds, Skyler Smith, Franchescia Wiser, Owen Yeadon.
