Vivian M. Freeman, 96, Wentzville, Missouri, passed away on March 11, 2022, at The Boulevard Senior Living of Wentzville, Missouri. She was born in West Frankfort, Illinois, on November 22, 1925, to William J. and S. Naomi Herring (Weaver). On August 16, 1946, she married Harold L. Freeman, and he preceded her in death on August 1, 2005.
Vivian graduated from Frankfort High School and served in a variety of roles with the Mayor and City Clerk of West Frankfort, Illinois; Petter Supply Company in Paducah Kentucky; Security Bank in Mount Vernon, Illinois; Wesleyan Headquarters in Marion, Indiana; and Marion College (Indiana Wesleyan University) in Marion, Indiana.
Her biggest achievement centered on her family and raising her five children. Vivian loved to spend time with her family and her top priority was teaching her children to love the Lord. In addition, she enjoyed cooking for family, playing board games long into the night with family, as well as camping and traveling (every state in the continental U.S. and Hawaii, Australia, Canada, and Germany).
In 2006, she sold her home in Marion and relocated from Marion to Wentzville, Missouri, to help care for her daughter, Nancy. In 2017, the roles reversed and Nancy helped to care for her as she began her journey with dementia.
Vivian is survived by her daughters, Terri Tellier of Pinellas Park, FL, Marcia (Wes) Newton of Marion, AR, and Nancy (Greg) Atchison of Wentzville, MO; son, Dennis (Virgie) Freeman of Upland, CA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Holder of Gas City; brother, Harvey Herring of Marion; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Iva Wolfe; brothers, Herman and James Herring; and son, Douglas Freeman.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Vivian’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Harvey Herring officiating. The family will have a private graveside service.
