Virginia Joan Haynes

Virginia was born in Converse on May 30, 1936 to Charles and Mildred (Lyons) Haynes. She passed away on July 26, 2018 in St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis.

Virginia was a lifetime resident of Converse and she was a 1954 graduate of Converse High School. During her working years Virginia was a medical assistant to Dr. Malott for 34 years and then worked for Dr. Goldberg. Later she worked for a short while as a substitute mail carrier. In her free time Virginia enjoyed spending time gardening and as a young woman she also enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling and enjoyed playing Bingo and cards with her friends. In the winter months Virginia traveled south to Zephyr Hills, Florida. She was a member of Converse Church of Christ, Moose Auxiliary in Florida, and American Legion Auxiliary, Post 6 of Kokomo.

She is survived by her long time friend, Mary Jo Wickham, Converse; nieces, Debra (Sam) Lake, Converse; Cindy (Richard) Hiple, Swayzee; nephews, Joe (Sharon) Haynes, Melbourne, Kentucky; Marc (Cathy) Hacker, Andrews; Bill Hacker, Loveland, Colorado; several great nieces and nephews.

Virginia is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and Charles Haynes and sister, Norma Hacker.

Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Larrison-Martin Chapel, 308 East Marion Street, Converse. Funeral services will begin at 1pm with John Clark officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Converse Cemetery, Converse, Indiana.
