Viola B. McDaniel

Viola B. McDaniel, 101, Marion, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:03 am on Monday, August 1, 2022, in her daughter’s home. She was born in East Dubuque, Illinois, on Wednesday, February 16, 1921, to Walter and Viola (Tschiggfrie) Bradley. 

Viola worked as a secretary at Sears in Chicago and owned a candy factory and restaurant in Quito, Ecuador, from 1965 to 1981. She was a member of Church of the Brethren. Viola had a trained voice and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also taught Sunday school and was involved in the Women’s Fellowship.  

Survivors include her son, Hardey (Carolyn) McDaniel, Jr., of Marion; daughter, Joy (Jerry) Hansel of Marion; grandsons, James (Lori) McDaniel of Kokomo, Chris (Candi) McDaniel of Kokomo, Keith Hansel of Marion, Kevin (Marla) Hansel of TX, Mark (Raejean) Hansel of TN, Mitch (Karen) Hansel of Marion, and Matt Hansel of Fort Wayne; and granddaughter, Jeannie (Eric) Walts of Marion. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John (Ruth) Bradley. 

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. 

A funeral service to celebrate Viola’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Marion Church of the Brethren, 2302 S. Geneva Ave., Marion, IN. Pastor John Bunch will be officiating. Additional visitation will begin at 12:00 noon until the service starts. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery in Upland.
