Vickie Lynn Daugherty, 67, North Manchester, passed away at her daughter’s home on June 30, 2023. She was born in Akron, Ohio, on June 5, 1956, to Ralph and Patricia (Heiss) Legg.
In 1974 Vickie graduated from Lakeland High School in Freeport, Ohio. She then moved to Baltimore, Maryland, and later to North Manchester in 1981. After relocating to Indiana, she worked in the histology labs at Wabash Hospital and ran the Dupont Labs at St. Joe Hospital. She worked at both places for a combined twenty-six years before retiring.
With her sassy personality, Vickie loved to have fun and admired the small things in life. Her family meant the world to her, and she relished her time spent with them. Vickie had a remarkable ability to make those around her smile and laugh, always putting her family and friends before her own wants and needs. For enjoyment, she delighted in going to different casinos and having a good time.
The loving memory of Vickie Lynn Daugherty will be forever cherished by her son, Kenneth “Jeff” (Charste) Daugherty, Fort Wayne; daughters, Charity (Halley) Stier, North Manchester, and Atiya Shorter, Frankfort; bonus daughter, Maria Shepherd, North Manchester; brothers, Joe (Cheryl) Colebank, Akron, Ohio, and Dale Colebank, North Manchester; sisters, Joyce Colebank, Birmingham, Alabama, and Laura Beamer, Gnadenhutten, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Vickie was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Ralph and Emma (Craig) Legg; and her mother, Patricia (Heiss) Carlos.
A celebration of Vickie’s life will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate.
