Vernita Cooper

Vernita Cooper, 72, Marion, passed away at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, in her home in Marion. She was born in Wardell, Missouri, on Monday, August 8, 1949, to Willie D. Collier and Lelia Mae Tipler. On August 26, 1972, she married Warren Gene Cooper, and he preceded her in death.

Vernita graduated from Charleston High School in Missouri. Following her employment at General Tire, she was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family. Vernita liked to dance, listen to music, and ride her bike in her earlier years. She also liked to entertain and be the life of the party when she was visiting or hosting. She enjoyed traveling to Pin Hook, Missouri, with her husband to visit family and friends, as well as her close friend, Charlotte Evans. When her husband was alive, she liked taking drives on a Sunday afternoon.

Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Cooper of Marion and Teresa Cooper of Marion; granddaughter, Yaseret Destini Jiles; grandson, Khyron Montrael Cooper; sister, Brenda L. Tipler; brother, Otis Townsend; brother-in-law, Larry Cooper; special nephew, Gary Tipler; special cousin, Sadie Tipler Streaty; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Warren Cooper.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave, Marion.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Vernita’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Stanford Bolden officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
