Velma L. Culbertson

Velma L. Culbertson, 84, Gas City, went to be with the Lord at Marion General Hospital at 6:36 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018.  She was born in Byrdstown, TN, on April 9, 1934, to the late Herman E. and Geneva V. (Dodson) Reynolds.  On July 3, 1987, she married her husband, Clarence Culbertson, and he preceded her in death on March 23, 2010.

Velma loved to cook and began employment as a cook in various restaurants.  She had also managed the produce department at Wise’s Grocery in Muncie.  Later on, she was the bookkeeper at Northside Nursing Home in Muncie.

She loved the Lord and loved going to church at Brinker Heights Wesleyan, where she was a member.  She enjoyed listening to gospel music, playing Bingo, and, whenever she was able to do so, traveled to various destinations.  She always looked forward to meeting with a group of friends every morning at McDonald’s in Gas City.

She is survived by her sons, Norman Anderson, Gas City, and Karl (Malou) Anderson, Selma; grandsons, Larry Anderson, Muncie, and Lonnie Lambert, Muncie; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-daughters, Barbara and Marilyn; three brothers and three sisters.

Two sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with Velma’s funeral service beginning at 12 noon on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.  Pastor Aldean Pablo will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
