Thomas Joe “Tom” Niccum

Thomas Joe “Tom” Niccum, 76, North Manchester, passed away on December 17, 2021 at Parkview
Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The son of Walter and Doris (Cripe) Niccum, Tom was
born March 13, 1945 in Huntington, Indiana. After the passing of his mother, Tom’s father married Marie
Betten.
Tom graduated from Manchester High School in 1963. After high school, he served four years in the
United States Air Force, spending a year in Thailand during his service. On March 13, 1970, Tom married
Vicki Runkel and the two welcomed a son, Josh Niccum. Tom had a passion for machinery and the
outdoors which reflected in his work. He managed a fertilizer plant in Servia for ten years, owned Tom’s
Outdoor Power Equipment, worked at Manchester Farm Center, and drove truck for Midwest Poultry
Services delivering feed for 13 years before retiring in 2015.
Tom also found the time to serve his community by volunteering as a Chester Township firefighter for 10
years and as a deacon at Servia Church of Christ for twenty years. He was a strong Christian man who
loved spending time with his grandchildren, tinkering in his shop, camping and fishing at Jellystone
campground, where they camped for the last twenty-five years. Tom was a member of Bachelor Creek
Church of Christ in Wabash and the American Legion Sunset Post 402 in Laketon. He was a man of many
talents and could fix just about anything.
The loving memory of Tom Niccum will be forever cherished by his wife, Vicki Niccum, North Manchester;
son, Josh (Carla) Niccum, Bourbon, Indiana; brothers, Paul D. (Jo Lynn) Niccum, North Manchester, and
Roger D. (Diane) Niccum, Indianapolis; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by his father, Walter Niccum and mother, Doris (Cripe) Niccum.
Family and friends may call December 30, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401
State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. A celebration of Tom’s life will begin at the conclusion of
calling. Pastor Kevin Nichols will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, 1100 Manchester
Avenue, Wabash, Indiana.
