Terry Allen Nelson, 64, Yoder, passed away at 8:04 pm on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in his home. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, August 7, 1959, to Robert Nelson and Carolyn Sue Rice.
Terry graduated from Jay County High School in 1977 and served in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, Terry was a groundskeeper for many years with Taylor University and Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation.
Terry loved the outdoors, especially hunting. He collected many furs and mounts over the years from his hunts. Terry liked to go to auctions, car shows, and vacations in Florida. He watched the Motor Trend show on TV whenever he could. Terry was a detailed and loyal man who appreciated the rewards of hard work.
Survivors include his companion and fiancée, Lisa Davis of Yoder; mother, Carolyn Sue (Jerry) Rice; daughter, Tiffany (James) Ramseyer of Bluffton; sons, Brooks Nelson of Fort Wayne and Chase Nelson of Fort Wayne; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends; and sisters, Sandy (Frank) Parr of Grabill, Eleana (Tim) Traylor of Spencerville, and Robyn (Mark) Gayheart of Chelsea, AL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Nelson, and sister, Vicky Niblick.
The family will have a memorial service to celebrate Terry’s life at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Central Ministries Church, 5801 Schwartz Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46835.
