Susan E. Oyler

Susan E. Oyler, 96, Upland, passed away at 12:45 am on December 14, 2021. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on October 19, 1925, to Oliver and Bertha (Thompson) Butterbaugh. On June 1, 1958, she married Lewis R. Oyler.

Susie graduated from Wabash High School and received her B.S. degree in Nursing from Ball State University. She worked as an RN at Marion General Hospital. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she served as an Elder and on various committees. She was also a member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter BT. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and cooking. She also had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann (Scott) Hoener of Plano, TX, and Jane (Brad) Bowser of Upland; granddaughters, Rachel (Issac) Best of Antigo, WI, Christina (Greg) Meyer of Evergreen, CO, Lydia Hoener of Plano, TX, and Kendal Bowser of Upland; grandson, Jared Bowser of Upland; and great-grandson, Vincent Best.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Maryellen Smith; and brothers, Jack R. Butterbaugh and Samuel J. Butterbaugh.

Visitation is from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with Susie’s service beginning at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 20, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Pastor Jim Sonnefield will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
