Sue Ann Richards, 86, Marion, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:11 am on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, December 9, 1936, to Carl and Sarah (Arrick) Gossett. On December 15, 1957, she married Jerry Wiley Richards, and he preceded her in death just three months prior–on April 20, 2023.
Sue graduated from Marion High School and worked at General Machine & Tool, where she was the Secretary and Vice President. She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church, where she was heavily involved.
Sue enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, taking care of her family, and tending to her flower garden. She has now been freed from her earthly chains, no longer suffering from the life-sucking, brain-consuming disease of dementia.
Survivors include her daughter, Julie (Ronnie) Hix of Marion; son, Andrew (Michelle) Richards of Manistee, MI; grandson, Trevor (Laura) Hix; step-grandsons, Andrew Hix and Simon (Amanda) Hix; step-granddaughter, Rachel Hix; two step-great-grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl Gossett, Jr., and Richard Gossett; and nephew, Curt Gossett.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Sue’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Haley Asberry officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
