Steven J. Dierks

Steven J. Dierks, 74, Liberty Mills, Indiana, passed away at 9:01 a.m. on December 7, 2018 at Wellbrooke of Wabash. Born on August 2, 1944 to Arnold W. and Snowden Joan (Custer) Dierks in Warsaw, Indiana, he was one of six children.

After graduation from Sidney High School in 1962, Steven entered the U.S. Army. For three years Steven proudly served the United States of America. Even after returning from the U.S. Army, Steven became a member of the American Legion Post #286, supporting the men and women in the military. While returning to civilian life, Steven found a career in construction, where he operated heavy equipment.

Steven enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was often seen going to their events and fishing with them. If he wasn’t spending time with his family, he could be found in the basement tinkering with different things or at breakfast with his buddies. In the evening, Steven watched Wheel of Fortune religiously.

The memory of Steven J. Dierks will be carried on by his son, Todd (Melissa) Dierks, North Manchester; daughter, Tara (David) Helms, Galveston, Indiana; three brothers, Myrtus Dierks, North Manchester, Phil (Marcia) Dierks, South Whitley and Kris (Beverly) Dierks, Claypool; two sisters, Joie (Jeff) Lotz, South Whitley and Debbie (Mark) Crapea, California; six grandchildren, Sarrah and Heath Dierks, Lindsay (Dustin) Engle, Ross Wyatt and John Helms; and one great-grandchild, Maxwell Alexander Dierks. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Family and Friends may call Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Memorial services for Steven J. Dierks will begin at the conclusion of the calling. Military Rites will follow the memorial service. Pastor William Collins will officiate.
