Stephen W. Bennett

Stephen W. Bennett, age 67, of Huntington, died at 8:25 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at his home.

Visitation will be from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Brice Bennett officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery in Noble County.

Preferred memorials are to Huntington County Humane Society, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Steve was born on July 3, 1950 in Wolf Lake, Noble County, the son of Charles G. “Bus” Bennett and Nila A. (Scott) Bennett. He was a 1969 graduate of Churubusco High School and married Carolyn Smith on June 5, 1999 in Huntington. He was a design engineer at both Zimmer and DePuy in Warsaw. He also worked for the Huntington County Sheriff’s Department and was a reserve officer for the Huntington City Police Department. He was a pilot and a member of the Young Eagles Club of Huntington.

Survivors include his wife of almost 19 years, Carolyn Bennett of Huntington, his mother, Nila A. Bennett of Columbia City, sons Brock S. (Richelle) Bennett and Brice D. (Melissa) Bennett, both of Fort Wayne and Timothy O. Spencer of Huntington, daughters Nicole R. Bennett and Baili A. (Travis) Spangler, both of Fort Wayne and Angela D. (Michelle) Spencer of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren, a brother, Robert (Debbie) Bennett of Columbia City, a sister Karen S. (Chet) Zorn of Leesburg, and two favorite canine “children,” Chase and Daisy Mae. His father precedes him in death.
