Shirley Ruth Morris, 84, of Gas City, went to be with the Lord at 3:15 am on Friday, March 24, 2023, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born in Saint Charles, Virginia, on Friday, December 23, 1938, to Roscoe and Jewel (Grabel) Peters.
Shirley graduated from Mississinewa High School and had completed IWU classes in food service. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the Gaithers. She liked to cook for her family and was known for her delicious baked goods. Shirley was dedicated to her family and loved being able to see her grandchildren at their events throughout the years. Shirley will be remembered as a giving, generous and God-centered woman. Her infectious smile and big heart will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her sons, Brook (Tamora) Morris of Huntsville, AL, Brian (Lisa) Morris of Upland, and Brent (Stacey) Morris of Gas City; daughters, Grenae Watson of Gas City and Lisa (Michael) Wright of Marion; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Hedgecoth and Joann (John) Richards; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Roscoe Peters; mother, Jewel Peters; sisters, Barb King and Arlayne Barney; brother, Charles Peters, and her beloved dog, Lider.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Shirley’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
