Shirley K. Cotrel, 82, Upland, passed away at 10:15 am on Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Upland. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 22, 1941, to Ora and Maxine (Hatton) Enyeart. On February 24, 1979, she married James E. Cotrel.
Shirley graduated from Marion High School and then worked as an Ad Services Manager for 20 years with Chronicle-Tribune, retiring after 32 years in total with the newspaper. She enjoyed living in the country, loved nature, and watching the wildlife that came around her home. She loved her animals and had several special dogs through the years. In her younger years, she had enjoyed waterskiing and roller skating.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Cotrel of Upland; son, Jerry (Melony) Cotrel of Marion; granddaughters, Heather (Andy) McElhaney of Warren and Holly Highley of Marion; grandson, Adam Cotrel of Kissimmee, FL; great-grandsons, Wyatt and Levi McElhaney, Eli and Pierce Highley; great-granddaughters, Karlyn and Kortney Cotrel, Willa Highley; niece, Laura Kennedy; and nephews, Keith Enyeart and Trevor Enyeart.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ora L. “Bus” Enyeart; mother, Maxine E. Enyeart; daughter, Cynthia Devaney; brother, Larry Enyeart; and sister-in-Law, Tina Enyeart.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Shirley’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory, north of Marion.
