Gaythal D. Boswell

Gaythal D. Boswell, 95, Swayzee, went to her eternal home on Thursday, November 23, 2023. She was born in Deedsville, Indiana, on Sunday, July 22, 1928, to Ray and Zella (Kerchner) Robins.

She was the youngest of five children. After attending Chili High School, she married Marion “Bud” Boswell. They went on to have four sons: Leonard, Lonnie, Mike, and Marvin.

For the majority of her life, Gaythal worked in service to others. She served in the Swayzee School cafeteria while her boys were growing up. Later, she and her husband, Marion, worked for the Marion Housing Authority where Marion was a resident manager and Gaythal served as bookkeeper. They enjoyed spending time watching their boys participate in athletics at the high school and collegiate levels. They also enjoyed vacationing with friends and family and time spent at Hill, Bruce, and Sechrist Lakes. Additionally, Gaythal was a member of the Swayzee UMC.

After retiring in 1989, Gaythal enjoyed watching Bears, Cubs, and IU games and was incredibly overjoyed when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016. For the last 21 years, she lived in her little Swayzee house. There, she enjoyed watching her grandkids and great-grandkids play in the pool and many outdoor gatherings with family. Surrounded by her family was her favorite place to be.

Gaythal was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Zella Robins; her husband, Marion M. Boswell in 1997; two sons, Lonnie and Leonard; three sisters, Lucille Bartlett, Roselyn Day, Ruby Walker; and brother, Everett Robins.

Survivors include her sons, Mike (Lisa) Boswell of Swayzee, Marvin (Jeanann) Boswell of Kokomo; seven grandchildren, Jodi (Jim) Trisler of Wabash, Jeff (Amy) Boswell of Orchard Park, NY, Chip (Beth) Boswell of Swayzee, Brady (Heather) Boswell of Marion, Trey (Bridgette) Boswell of Converse, Jacob (Natasha) Boswell of Willard, OH, and Brett (Sieara) Boswell of Kokomo.
