Sheryl Ann Bowman

Sheryl Ann Bowman, 72, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away on December 11, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The daughter of the late Rex Weitzel and Mabel Colleen (Heeter) Brown, Sheryl was born March 21, 1951, in Wabash, Indiana.

A lifelong resident of North Manchester, Sheryl graduated from Manchester High School in 1969 and obtained a bachelor degree in physical education from Manchester College in 1973. She married Ned Bowman on December 24, 1971, and became a stay-at-home mother after their first daughter, Angela, was born. She continued in her role as a homemaker after the birth of their second daughter, Laura, until she returned to college and earned an associate degree in graphic design.  Sheryl then began working for the News-Journal and in early 2003 moved to the Monitor, where she worked as a graphic designer until retirement.

Sheryl’s grandchildren were the biggest part of her life; she did anything to make them happy and delighted in spending time with them. For her grandchildren, Sheryl was a source of comfort and a person in whom they could confide. She also volunteered with the Lions Club, where she was a member for many years. Sheryl had a passion for drawing, painting, and taking photos of nature. Her gift for the arts flowed naturally into her professional career. She also enjoyed watching a good football game on television while playing solitaire and Candy Crush and especially loved being with her dog, Sophie.
