Sharon Lee Jones

Sharon Lee Jones, 82, Wabash, formerly of Marion, passed away at 11:52 am on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at The Waters of Wabash. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 8, 1939, to William and Ella Mae (Deaton) Kinnison. On June 1, 1957, she married John Wayne Jones, II, and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2015.  

Sharon attended Marion High School and was a decorator for Meis and Elder-Beerman. She also owned and operated Final Touch Interior Design in Marion.

Sharon was proud of being featured as a Gerber Baby. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and baking pies. She was a member of Glad Tidings Family Church in Marion. She was a dedicated licensed Bible study teacher and had taught Search for Truth for many years. Sharon liked playing piano and keyboard, making soap, and raising several horses over the years. She loved traveling, especially wintering in West Florida, and had helped in founding churches with her husband in Texas, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Marion, Indiana. Above all, Sharon was a God-fearing Christian woman who was dedicated in encouraging others in Christ’s love. She was a loving mentor to everyone who met her, and she couldn’t wait to get to heaven and cast her crown at the feet of Jesus.

Survivors include her son, John Wayne Jones, III, of Summitville; daughters, Shelly Cochran of Marion, Fonda (Dennis) Soards of Roanoke, and Sharon E. (Rev. Noble) Hudson of Marion; grandchildren: Lindsay (Paul Grant) Jones, Nathaniel Jones, Hannah (James) Barton, Jessica Jones, Abigail Jones, Holly Little, John (Chrissy) Little, Dustin (Celeste) Soards, Mallory (Taylor) Ross, Ian (McKenna) Soards, Miah Hudson, Alaya Hudson, Benjamin Hudson, and Trenton Hudson; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. Marion (Jeanne) Bush of Marion; sisters, Carolyn Sue Bush of Marion and Elizabeth (Rev. Robert) McFarland of Marion; brother-in-law, Rev. Jerald (Marti) Jones; sister-in-law, Janice (late Rev. Charles) Benninghoff, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her loving husband, John, Sharon was preceded in death by her father, William Kinnison; mother, Ella Mae (Marion, Sr.) Bush; and her grandson, Joshua R. Jones.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Sharon’s life will begin at 1:00 pm. Her son-in-law, Rev. Noble Hudson, whom she helped mentor, will be officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery at 10:00 am on Monday, December 5, 2022.
