Sarah G. Dailey

Sarah G. Dailey, 100, Gas City, passed away in her home at 10:30 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023. She was born in Columbus, Indiana, on Sunday, June 24, 1923, to William and Effie (Staley) Shattuck.  

She was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God. She was a people person and loved being with people and especially loved being with her family and grandchildren. In addition to her years of working at Delta in Marion, then Wesleyan Health Care for many years, she also enjoyed working at Fairmount Wesleyan Campgrounds. She also loved spending time and doing things with her identical twin, Mable. She loved singing at nursing homes and at times, at church, with her husband. She is remembered as a very kind-hearted person.

Survivors include her son, Herbert “Bud” (Rosalie) Hillman of Gas City; daughters, Donna (late James) Bowen of Gas City, Linda Seeley of Gas City, Shelvie (late Dan) Buchanan of Oskaloosa, IA; son-in-law Ted Mosier of Gas City; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 36 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great-great.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Hillman; husband, Dwight G. Dailey; parents, William Henry and Effie Mae (Shattuck) Butcher; step father, Gus Butcher; and daughters, Pamela K. Mosier and Shirley (late Larry) Goble; grandchildren, Hazel Goble, Melissa Mosier, Rodney Seeley, Robert Bowen, and Carey Byrd; as well as Nicole Cothron.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Sarah’s life will begin at 3:00 pm with Pastor Jerry Galloway officiating.  Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory – Marion.
