Samuel L. “Sam” Leckrone, 77, North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 11:35 a.m. on July 31, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Sam was born on June 19, 1941 in Manistee, Michigan to Clifton and Joyce (Griffith) Leckrone.
Sam graduated from Manchester High School in 1959 and International College, Fort Wayne, in 1961. He enjoyed camping with family and friends and traveling across the country since 1981. They spent many years camping at Jelly Stone, Pierceton, from 1981-2007. Sam was an avid Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers fan. After being employed with Thorleif Larsen & Son, Fort Wayne, IN for 33 years and Complete Masonry Services, Muncie, he retired in 2007.
Sam will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol Leckrone, North Manchester, Indiana: three daughters Shelley (Greg) Jones, Henderson, KY, Stacey (Tyrone) Boenker, Decatur, Indiana, A.J. Leckrone, Westfield, Indiana; three sons Craig (Wendy) Slough, North Manchester, Indiana, Mike (Kathy) Leckrone, North Manchester, Indiana, Mark (Laurie) Leckrone, Columbia City, Indiana; six grandchildren Zachary (Casey) Slough, Nikki (Shane Goben) Blair, Tate (Logan) Boenker, Elizabeth Boenker, Chloe and Sophie Leckrone; three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Seth Goben, Kade Boenker. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
A private service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Friends and family may call Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
