S. Jeannice Hapner

S. Jeannice Hapner, 82, North Manchester joined her husband, Delbert “Dean” Hapner in heaven on December 9, 2019 at Goshen Hospital, Goshen, Indiana at 5:55 p.m. Jeannice was one of three children born to Cecil and Edna (Steller) Grossnickle on July 23, 1937.

Jeannice graduated Central High School, North Manchester, Indiana in 1955. On July 29 1960, she married Delbert Dean Hapner. After twenty-nine years of marriage, he passed away on October 15, 1989. She volunteered with the County Election Poles from 1996 to 2015 and worked for General Telephone from 1955-1963 and later for Heckman Bindery from 1976-2002. Jeannice looked forward to spending time with her family and relished the opportunities to go to her grandchildren’s events and encouraged them. She was humble and giving and cared for the well-being of her children. Jeannice babysat as much as possible so she had extra time to spend with her grandchildren. She was spiritually strong and loved being a member at Congregational Christian Church.

Jeannice will be lovingly remembered and cherished by her son, Kendall (Erin) Hapner, South Whitley, Indiana; her daughter, Laura (Brad) Hooley, Middlebury, Indiana; one brother, Roger (Sandy) Grossnickle, Liberty Mills, Indiana; six grandchildren, Jackson and Jordan Hooley both of Indianapolis, Indiana, Andrew (Brooke) Hapner, South Whitley, Indiana, Caiden, Shylah, and Braxton Miller of South Whitley, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother Bud Grossnickle.

Family and friends may call Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling and Pastor Sebrena Cline will officiate. Burial for Jeannice will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, IN.
