Ruth Anne Denson

Ruth Anne Denson, age 61, of Gas City, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Stillwater Hospice in Ft. Wayne, surrounded by her family.  Ruth was a kind and gentle soul and she continued to give to others through organ donation.

Ruth was born on February 9, 1962, in Coos Bay, Oregon, the daughter of the late Kenneth McKelleb, and Linda Lou (Lippens) McKelleb.  She married Steve Denson on October 26, 2019, and he survives. Ruth worked doing data entry, and medical and insurance billing for Grant-Blackford Mental Health.

She was a member of the Amvets Post 5 Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Post 95 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Grant County Electronic Bowling League.  Ruth loved spending time with her family, and especially loved fishing in Big Fork, Minnesota. 

In addition to her husband, Steve, she is also survived by her son, Bryan Scott (Carie) Levensky of Gas City, and step-son, Matthew (Alisha) Denson of Jonesboro; two step-daughters, Tabitha (Oliver Stuttsman) Denson of Gas City and Amanda Denson of Marion; a sister, Cathy Tomlinson of Lexington, Kentucky; and 13 grandchildren, Brenden (Nataliegh) Gochenour, Trystan Levensky, Kaden Levensky, Avriella Levensky, Linzie Collins, Natalie Collins, Jasper Fanning, Matthew Denson, Trinity Singleton, Elijah Denson,  Kyra Messler, Arielle Miller, and Joseph Sloan.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Marty McKelleb.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Raven Choate Robinson Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Eastview Wesleyan Church, 414 N. 10th Street, Gas City, with Pastor Noah Farmer officiating.  Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the Celebration of Life Service.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Stillwater Hospice, 705 S. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953; or to NINDS (National Institute of Neurological Disorder and Stroke), P.O. Box 5801, Bethesda, Maryland 20824 for Locked-In Syndrome Research; or go to an Angel Tree of the donor’s choice and take care of a child in honor and memory of Ruth.
