Ruth Ann Brown, 79, of Wabash, Indiana, formerly of North Manchester and Roann, died at 2:08 pm, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on November 4, 1943, in Delphi, Indiana, to Earl and Mildred (Fross) Eis.
Ruth was a 1962 graduate of Delphi High School. She first married Thomas Ray Smith in Delphi, Indiana on July 2, 1962; he died July 3, 1966. She then married Robert E. “Bob” Harris in Roann, Indiana on August 3, 1969; he died October 2, 2011. She then married Barry Jay Brown at the Congregational Christian Church in North Manchester, Indiana on September 1, 2012. Ruth worked at Controls for 10 years and at United Technologies for 3 and a half years, both in North Manchester, and also was an Avon Salesperson in Roann for 5 years. She was a member of the Congregational Christian Church and had been a member of the Olive Branch Church of God for 33 years. Ruth enjoyed baking and babysitting the grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Barry Brown of Wabash; three sons, Jay (Theresa) Smith of North Manchester, Robert “Rob” (Kathy) Smith of Columbia City, Indiana, and Tony (Jennifer) Harris of Terre Haute, Indiana, 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Scott Allen Smith who died December 2008, two sisters, Shirley Cree and Betty Eis, and her brother, David Eis.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, March 3, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor J.P.Freeman officiating. Friends may call 12:30-2:00 pm Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, at a later date.
