Ruby B. Darnell

Ruby B. Darnell, 97, Marion, met her Lord and Savior at 8:40 am on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Rolling Meadows Health & Rehabilitation Center in LaFontaine. She was born in Arkansas on Sunday, August 22, 1926, to Frank and Willie (Reynolds) Becker.  She married Rev. Edward “Dutch” J. Darnell on December 30, 1944, and he preceded her in death.  

Ruby was a homemaker throughout her life.  She was a loving and faithful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Being the wife of a minister, Ruby was faithful to be by her husband throughout his time in the ministry, supporting him in any way she could.  Ruby loved quilting, and she also enjoyed fishing and gardening, which were two great passions of hers.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy A. (Glenn) Murphree of Marion; granddaughters, Kellie (Timothy) Stoffel of Roanoke and Stefanie (Mark) Goodman of Marion; great-grandchildren, Asher, Spencer, and Isaiah; and brothers, Kennard (Doris) Becker of Marion and Earl (Nancy) Becker of Warren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Otto Becker and James Becker; sisters, Opal Collier, Fayrene Edgemon, Ruth Young, and Evaleen Smallwood; and son-in-law, Richard Speicher.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Ruby’s life will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.  Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
