Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Herring

Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Herring, 81, Gas City, surrounded by his loved ones, went to be with the Lord at 3:02 am on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, January 16, 1942, to Clifford and Annetta (Kem) Herring.  On May 8, 1993, he married Roberta “Bobbie” Dailey.  

Ronnie loved to smile, joke around and spend time with family. He loved riding motorcycles, fishing, woodworking, and roller skating. He served on Mill Twp. Fire Department for several years. His biggest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ronnie loved serving the Lord and was a long-time member of Grace Community Church where he gave many hours helping with the sound system. Ronnie was also very proud of his Roy Rogers Collection that he made through the years and meeting him several years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Herring of Gas City; children, Peggy Sue Hettig, Melissa (Robert Emmons) Trepte, Michelle (Markle) Stevenson-McQueen, Mike (Dina) Phillips; grandchildren, Laci (Cory) Charette, Wade (Megan) Stevenson, Michael Phillips, Robbie Stevenson, Matthew (Cheyenne) Phillips, Mark (Melissa) Stevenson, Dominic (Katrina) Phillips, and Aiden Franklin; great-grandchildren, Lincoln Franklin, Maverick Phillips, and future, Paisley Lora-lee Phillips; and fur babies, Bailey and Sassy.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Annetta Herring, Sr.; son, Ronald L Herring, Jr.; sisters, Wilma Fischer, Alice Miller, Lillian Davis; brothers, Harold E. Herring, Paul R. Herring, Clifford Herring, Jr.; sons-in-law, Mark Stevenson and Tom Hettig; mother-in law, Delores “Dee” Vlaun; and several other family members.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Grace Community Church, 1810 E. Bradford Pike, Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Ronnie’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating.  Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
