Robert Taylor

Robert Taylor, 81, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 10:41 am, Monday, May 1, 2023, in Roanoke, Indiana as a result of an auto accident.  He was born on December 9, 1941, in Lackey, Kentucky, to John and Mallie (Sloane) Taylor.

Robert retired from General TIre in Wabash after 14 years. He attended the Christian Heritage Church. He enjoyed mechanic work, watching television, and his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

He is survived by four children, Gwen Taylor, Beverly (Denny) Elshire, Robert L. Taylor, and David (Jeni) Taylor, all of Wabash; seven grandchildren, Robert Grove, Nicholas (Cassie) Grove,  Jackson Taylor, Jamin Taylor, Lynae Taylor, John Robert Taylor, and Aiden Lee Taylor, great grandchildren Lindsey Grove and Henry Grove; his companion Barbara VanHoose of Wabash; four step children, Jennifer (Rick) Simpson of Wabash, Jeff VanHoose of Peru, Indiana, Tim (Bobbi) VanHoose and Chris (Shelly) VanHoose, both of Wabash; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister, Wanda Spurgeon of Pontiac, Michigan; and his dog Maggie May.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and six sisters.

There will be a memorial service at 5:30 pm Friday, May 5, 2023 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Friends may call 2-5:30 pm Friday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
