Robert K. “Bob” Dougherty

Robert K. “Bob” Dougherty, 84, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away on December 1, 2023, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester. The son of the late Oscar and Helen (Timothy) Dougherty, Bob was born on February 20, 1939, in Gary, Indiana.

Bob grew up in the Gary area and graduated from Gary Wirt High School in 1957. After high school graduation, Bob joined the United States Army Reserves and was honorably discharged after fulfilling his commitment. He worked at NIPSCO for forty years before eventually retiring.

On May 14, 1966, Bob married the love of his life, Lucille Nadolski. During their fifty-seven years of marriage, the couple was blessed with two children, Tim and Sara. A patient and generous man who wore a constant smile, Bob enjoyed caring for his family and the land on which he lived. He took special pride in his grandchildren and always enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears. Bob was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in North Manchester.

The loving memory of Robert “Bob” Dougherty will be forever cherished by his wife, Lucille Dougherty, North Manchester; son, Tim Dougherty, Marietta, GA; daughter, Sara (Bill) D’Andrea, North Manchester; and four grandchildren, Jack Dougherty, Luke Dougherty, Resto D’Andrea, and Clare D’Andrea. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Helen Dougherty.

Family and friends may call Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 1203 State Road 114, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral Mass will begin at the conclusion of calling with Father Daniel Koehl officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana.
