Robert James Davis

Robert James Davis, of Marion, 86, went to be with the Lord in his home on Saturday, February 20, 2021. He was born on January 5, 1935, to the late Jim and Martha Wilma (Plasterer) Davis in Marion, Indiana.

Robert graduated from Sweetser High School in 1952 and enlisted in the Navy in 1953. He was a 1st Class Radarman on the USS Chevalier 805, based out of San Diego, California, during the Korean War. On January 31, 1958, he married Rose Bernadean Draper. They shared 61 years together before she died on April 17, 2019. They had built their home and lived in Gas City for 30 years.

Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and traveling. He was a member of the NRA and VFW, and he attended Wabash North Wesleyan Church. He retired after 39 years at General Motors in Marion.

Survivors include two daughters, Catharina Keller of Marion and Teresa (Jerald) Mesker of Fort Pierce, FL; 8 grandchildren, Travis, Courtney, Ryan, Stephanie, Ross, Drew, Joshua, and Matthew; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; special sister, Colleen Horner of Wabash; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was also preceded in death by two sisters, RuthAnn and Juanita; brother, Raymond; son, Ron Lee Davis; grandson, Dustin James; and great-grandson, Devon Tyler.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

A funeral service to celebrate Robert’s life will take place at the funeral home at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2021, with Pastor Joseph Kelly presiding. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, 11201 S. Marion Rd-35, Marion, IN.
