Rita Davis Whiteman, 57, of Haleyville, Alabama, passed away at 7:45 pm on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with Crohn’s disease. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on February 6, 1966, to Paul and Linda (Evans) Davis and was the baby of the family.
Rita graduated from Marion High School’s Class of 1984. She loved life, family, and friends, and she loved taking care of others, especially her parents. She had previously worked at Arby’s in Marion and Noblesville before becoming disabled. She moved to Haleyville, Alabama, approximately 20 years ago.
She is survived by her daughters, Lindsay Jane Phillips of GA and Vivian (Zach) Crews of AL; grandchildren, Hayden, Shannon, Avery, Zebhirah, Benjamin, and Dakota; brothers, David (Judy) Davis and Dale (Carol) Davis; sisters, Rhonda (Charley) Watkins, Paula (Ted) Kearns, and Diane Horn; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Homer (Alice) Evans, Thelma (Harry) Hart, and Philip (Liz) Davis, and her grandson, Christopher Crews.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a memorial service to celebrate Rita’s life will begin at 3:00 pm. Pastor Thomas Nukes will be officiating.
