Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, 116 South Main Street, Andrews, Indiana 46702. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Jeff Necessary officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County.
Rita was born on April 21, 1954 in Huntington, the daughter of LeRoy D. and Esther (Caley) Scott. She was a 1972 graduate of Huntington North High School. She married Monte L. Hirschy on January 17, 1981 in Huntington. She worked at Schacht Lydall Rubber Company in Huntington for over nine years, then Breyers Ice Cream for 26 years. Rita was a member of Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church in Andrews and loved the band Three Dog Night.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Monte L. Hirschy and their children, Daniel Hirschy, Shadoe Hirschy, and Courtney (Kenneth) Huff, all of Huntington. Also surviving are grandchildren Paul Hirschy and Iana Hirschy, brothers Frank Scott and Herb (DeAnna) Scott, both of Huntington, Danny Wayne (Linda) Scott of Roanoke, and David (Gwen) Scott of Avon, a sister, Tammy (Phil) Kessinger of Van Buren, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Virginia Hirschy of Willshire, Ohio, and brothers-in-law Brian (Sandy) Hirschy of Willshire, Ohio, Myron Hirschy of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Dennis Hirschy of San Antonio, Texas. Her parents and a brother-in-law, Blaine Hirschy, precede her in death.
