Karen K. (Vickrey) Deeter, 76, died Tuesday evening, January 8, 2019, in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. She was born on December 14, 1942, in Marion, the daughter of the late Clyde and Erma (Stackhouse) Vickrey.
A lifelong resident of Grant County, she graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1960. She married Jerry Deeter on October 13, 1962 and they made their home in Upland since 1963. She enjoyed sewing and used to make her own clothing.
Mrs. Deeter was a member of the Pierce Upland United Methodist Church and enjoyed being involved with the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #411, Upland, where served as the Past Worthy Matron and was currently serving as the Treasurer. She also served as the Past Grand Representative for the Eastern Star for the state of New York. She was formerly employed with Dunham’s Sporting Goods, Marion.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jerry; a daughter: Jeri Dorsey, Indianapolis; two sisters: Patricia Tabor, Gas City; and Jackie (Norman) Wolfe, Warren; and two grandsons: Owen Dorsey, Indianapolis; and Jonathan Dorsey, Westfield.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Vickrey and her son-in-law, John Dorsey.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4 to7 pm. An Eastern Star Service will follow at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery.
