Rick R. Wolf

Rick R. Wolf, 74, Jonesboro, passed away at home on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 9:57 am. He was born in Muncie, Indiana, on Monday, May 23, 1949, to James and Dorothy (Eymer) Wolf.  Rick married the love of his life, Karen Ferguson Wolf, on September 17, 1988.

Rick graduated from Marion High School and was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force.  Following his military service, Rick dedicated his life as a Police Officer to the Marion Police Department, where he retired as Assistant Chief of Police. While working for the Marion Police Department, Rick was the first liaison officer in the Marion Community Schools and a leading force in starting the “Mike the Bike” bicycle safety program. In addition to Rick’s numerous awards, he was also recognized by the American Legion Post 10 as Policeman of the Year.

Following retirement from the Marion Police Department, Rick became Chief of Police for IU Kokomo, where he developed campus security protocol. While working at the IU Kokomo campus, Rick was honored to welcome and provide security for Jesse Jackson and Coretta Scott King.  Rick retired from IU Kokomo in 2006.

In his younger years, Rick played in Marion softball leagues for Folkies and the Star Shoe Shop.  He was a member of the Van Buren American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Police, as well as one of the founders of the Marion PAL Club, where he coached tee ball and little league.  Rick did security and escorted the Playboy bunnies for the Spanky McFarland Celebrity Golf Tournament in the ’70s and ’80s.  Twice, Rick was included in Strathmore’s Who’s Who book.  

Rick was an amazing storyteller and a wonderfully loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. Rick had a strong relationship with the Lord.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Brett (Magen) Wolf; daughter, Gretchen (Steven) Dungey; grandchildren, Meredith Millspaugh, Darrian Dungey, and Caleb Wolf; great-grandchildren, Leland, Makenly, Kassidy, Keaton, Kailey, Micah, and Elias; nephew, Todd (DeeDee) Revord; and his best friend of 61 years, Frank Ireland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Ann Revord; and brother-in-law, Frank Revord.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with a memorial service beginning at 3:00 pm on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating.
