Richard Paul Purdy

Richard Paul Purdy, 91, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 8:33 pm, Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Parkview Wabash Hospital. He was born August 8, 1927 in Wabash, to Lawrence and Delma (Kline) Purdy.

Richard was a 1947 graduate of Wabash High School, and was a US Army veteran stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He married Colleen Harden in Wabash on June 13, 1954; she died January 6, 2015. Richard worked at Ford Meter Box in Wabash, retiring in 1996 after 17 years, and also owned Purdy’s Realgas in Wabash. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by three children, Kris Purdy and Dan Purdy, both of Wabash, Jeff (Linda) Purdy of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren, Alex (Casey) Torres of Fishers, Indiana, Todd (Cindi) Idle of Southport, Indiana, Toni (Dan) Richins and Tracy (Russell) Penix, both of Indianapolis; five great grandchidlren; brother, Marvin (Rachel) Purdy, two sisters, Connie Lewis and Shirley Frieden, all of Wabash, and his sister-in-law, Shirley Purdy of Roann, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Purdy, and his sister, Marilyn Porter.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, December 17, 2018 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Chris Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 12:30-2:00 pm Monday, at the funeral home.
