Rev. Charles Richard “Dick” Stults

Rev. Charles Richard “Dick” Stults, 86, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 21, 2018 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. He was born May 19, 1932 in Princeton, New Jersey to Charles W. and Emma Lois (Gordon) Stults.

Rev. Stults was a 1949 graduate of Princeton High School, received his Bachelors of History degree from the College of Wooster in 1953, his Masters of Theology from the Princeton Theological Seminary in 1956, and was ordained in Kingston, New Jersey that same year. He married Nancy Bootman in Haddonfield, New Jersey on June 16, 1956. He was a Presbyterian Pastor, retiring after 41 years. Rev. Stults pastored in North Baltimore, Ohio, Califon, New Jersey, Unadilla, New York, Millersburg, Ohio, Newark, Ohio, Plain City, Ohio, Stalwart, Michigan, Winimac, Indiana, and Pulaski, Indiana. He was a member of the Presbytery of Wabash Valley, the Presbyterian Synod, and the Spiritual Life Committee at Peabody. He was also member of the Sparton Masonic Lodge in Winimac, Indiana, a volunteer fireman, First Aid Squad, and a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed civil war history, genealogy, gardening and photography. Rev. Stults was a resident of Peabody Retirement Community since 1995.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Stults of North Manchester; four children, John (Kathy) Stults of Emerald Hills, California, Kathryn (Karen) Stults of Miami, Florida, Andrew (Dominga) Stults of Columbus, Ohio, and Priscilla (George) Vallenas of Boyds, Maryland; four grandchildren, Michael (Faith) Stults of Redwood City, California, Carolyn (Jordan) Gonzalez of South Pasadena, California, Brian Vallenas of Boyds, and Janelle Stults of Columbus, Ohio; great granddaughter, Gwendolyn Gonzalez of South Pasadena; brother, Robert Stults of Fort Myers, Florida; and two sisters, Frances Voorhees of Monroe, New Jersey, and Miriam (Harry) Heckler of Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Peabody Chapel, 400 W. 7th St., North Manchester, with Rev. David Crowley officiating. Friends may call 4-7:30 pm Monday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Peabody Caring Circle or College of Wooster.
