Phyllis Louise Coblentz

Phyllis Louise Coblentz, age 94 went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 25, 2018.

Phyllis was born on December 5, 1923 to Oscar & Mary Josephine (Tague) Brown, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her beloved husband Harry Coblentz Jr., grandson Joe Coblentz, brother James Brown and his wife Elenora Brown, niece Sandy Howard, infant grandsons Michael Coblentz Jr. & Stephen Coblentz Jr. and her infant sister Jean Brown.

Phyllis graduated from Mexico High School in April of 1941. She lived in Denver until she married Harry Coblentz Jr. on May 3, 1941 and moved to rural Peru on the Coblentz Farm. To this union 3 sons were born. Michael (Arlene) of Peru, William (Pimyada) of Lake Alfred, Florida and Stephen of Peru.

Phyllis loved to travel (anywhere!), read, play Bingo, and cook (back in the day she made a mean yeast roll). She also enjoyed being a Pink Lady at the hospital for many years. She was passionate about her family and loved getting together to play cards. Phyllis was a big sports fan and a lifelong IU fan. In 2009 she wrote her memoirs entitled “UNBELIEVABLE” The story of Life on an Indiana Farm that has been read and enjoyed by many. Phyllis has been a member of The Bunker Hill United Methodist Church since 1957 and a longtime member of the Moose Lodge #249 in Peru and Eastern Star.

Phyllis is survived by all 3 of her sons, 7 grandchildren; Angie Maxwell of Peru; Kelley (Rich) Bautch of Austin, Texas; Troy (Crystal) Coblentz of Peru; Jenny McBride of Peru; Amy Bockover of Denver, IN; Jamie Coblentz of Anderson, IN; & Donnie Coblentz of Anderson, IN.

14 great grandchildren; Krystenn (Dakota) Harts of Kokomo; Cody (Haley) Dyer of Peru; Trinity Bockover of Mexico, IN; Steven McBride of Peru, Hope Bockover of Peru; Colt Coblentz of Andrews, IN; Kelli Wolfe of Peru; Kylie Wolfe of Peru; Brody Coblentz of Andrews, IN; James Bautch of Austin, TX; Bryant Teegardin of Peru; Kaylinn Teegardin of Peru; Izabella Coblentz of Peru; & Johanna Bautch of Austin, TX.

3 great great grandchildren; Chandler Harts of Kokomo; Brinley Dyer of Peru; and Kinsley Bockover of Peru.

Phyllis is also survived by a great nephew Chris (Tammy) Howard of Inglis, FL; great great niece Kenzie Howard of Peru; and great great nephews Noah & Tate Howard of Inglis, FL; former daughter-in-law Pat Coblentz and lifelong family friends Pete Marquez and Marina Marquez.

We are having a Celebration of Life at the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church at 4:00 on Saturday, March 31, 2018. We’d like to invite anyone that would like to come share a story with the family to Please come join us. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made out to Bunker Hill United Methodist Church to be distributed at a later date. There will be a private family burial at Springdale Cemetery on Sunday, April 1, 2018.
