Phyllis Jean Harper

Phyllis Jean Harper, 81, Van Buren, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Indianapolis on Saturday, July 1, 1939, to John and Ruth (Delaney) Newman.

Phyllis was a graduate of Forest High School and worked at Weaver Popcorn in Van Buren, retiring from there in 1995. She was a member of Marion First Church of the Nazarene and Red Hat Society. She loved embroidery and crocheting. She especially loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Lorinda Howell of Marion, Tony (Ronda) Harper of Muncie, Stan (Melanie) Harper of Marion, Carme (Gary Grzechowiak) Amos, and Ron (Robin) Harper of Dyer; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Martha (Joe) Pickett of Marion, Janet (Alva) Warstler of Sharpsville, and Anita (Howard, Jr.) Lane of Lebanon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Carl Lynn Harper.

The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Phyllis’ life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Rory Bond officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
